Any TAX increases must be approved by a 2/3's majority.
This is usually where the Prop 13 argument shows up. Shall I squash it now?
At this point in time CA real estate is a bust. Changing the tax laws on real estate in this state is a losing proposition.
I also think since the WTO is plain hurting so many different groups, this creative destruction or temporary decimation of small regions in an economy is underestimated and obviously wrong.
and the idea the WTO can overrule a nation-state based on trade....that's an obviously bad idea, if they are not disbanded entirely then their power should be reduced to govern only direct finished products as trade and anything like people, turtles to environment they should have no jurisdiction.
then there has to be some question of sovereignty. How did we sign over so much of our sovereignty to international trade agreements?
It's a sign that something has to change.
Seems to me he more likely messed up who he allowed into the party- he forgot that farmers need to eat too. And because of that caused the Holodomor- where all the food was shipped out of the Ukraine including the seed reserve!
I'm not sure if WWIII will happen- but China IS that stupid and is already persuing trade policies that in an earlier era would have resulted in war- and still should.
It's taken me 7 years, and a complete change in lifestyle from credit cards to debit only- but that means as long as I don't lose my job before March, unemployment can handle my debt payments (down to just house and one car).
We'd be a A LOT better off without the "save the rich" stimulus.
All of the people in the Nevada and Cal area that made those thousands of dollars turning over houses. Bragging about how this will never stop. I just kept paying my balance off every month. Now they want help or just want to walk away from their debt and feel that it is alright to do. There is only 10 or so percent that this will affect and I say let them eat beans and rice for awhile until their senses come back. The rest of us will continue our modest life style, but one we can still afford.
ill be forced to admit that communism had pretty good ideas and probably wouldve worked, had stalin not messed up the entire concept with his killing campaign. but who's to say that the capitalist system has failed? and while Hitler and World War II did completely bring us out of the great depression, over 60 years have passed since all that fighting. surely we could find a better way to stimulate the economy and fill our family's stomachs with food? with all the potential in wind and solar power, and the people that need money now, obama's bill is essentially a resurrection of the new deal, as you already know. The law which stated that men and women should get equal pay for equal jobs shouldve been ratified by congress decades ago! Obama is also passing bills to discourage stuffing money in the matresses, so hopefully that will entice many to start pouring money into the banks. my concern is what obama's long-range plans are, how to truly keep the economy rolling, that i believe is the real concern. I agree that letting the bankers keepp the TARP funds is unacceptable. however, TARP fund hoarding is only a small part of the problem.
and as for the idea of World War III, it probably wont happen, and if it does, it wont lead to the end of the world. America isnt stupid, China isnt stupid either. we all know that nuclear war is a no-win situation, and all this crap about the economy wont matter a bit if weve nuked each other back to the stone age.
I mentioned this post originally, while it is border line to post on EP, but I posted it because those statistics, of half a million people....is a major drain on the economy. I also noted the incredible number of people in jail...period...which is incredibly high. I'm now regretting posting it.
So, to this particular comment:
to claim one county is "racist" is also something one has to prove. We have no idea why these numbers are high....is this particular law enforcement officer simply enforcing the law? Is this county near the border, near the billion dollar drug smuggling trade? What are the demographics overall? The poverty level? It's spurious to assume anything here without a thorough analysis of the data and comparable areas where law enforcement is enforcing the law, similar demographics, similar underground activity, similar drug crossing runs and so on.
So, while I original pointed out these statistics are not valid simply because it is one data point, trying to claim that it proves racism is just as invalid.
Even if the porcentages are correct, you have to give the real numbers, if not a) you are trying to hide something,
b)numbers could be telling us how racist the justice system is in Maricopa County
c)you just want to scare people, after all up on the top of the article it says "not verified".
It seems those social networking buttons at the bottom of each post, if you use them really helps people find out about EP. reddit especially is very easy to use.
I find these numbers and statistics you quote suspect. And the whole slant of the page distasteful. When are nativists going to realize not all immigrants are illegal. And appreciate the immense contribution immigrants provide this country every day. get your head outta the sand, Bob. And list your sources.

Not pumped water. Best setup I've seen for algae growth is a sealed glass tank, cylindrical, with a filter system and the water reused, only input needed is carbon dioxide. MIT's vision is to site them next to coal power plants to grow biodiesel with the smoke.
I pointed to a couple of standards bodies because that should be where the design originates from. If it's really not there....a place to bitch is the House Science committee. They have scientists on the legislative staff and thus you have a chance on "stuck on stupid" but "plug n play" architecture documents I briefly scanned all imply upgradable due to the component style of system architecture. I haven't looked in depth.
...that's where CA's 'Million Solar Roof Initiative' shows the way. But like President Obama I do believe we can do more than one thing at a time. The key to all this is to really build a 'smart grid' that allows for small producers to get online and upgrades the efficiency of electrical power transmission.
We as a nation need to get this right. That means that engineers and scientists and us citizens need to 'proof read' the 'smart grid' and make sure it does work.
...from AC to HVDC. they are totally different technologies requiring different pylons, transformers and power line construction. As for the engineers designing the system having a say in how it will be built. That would be a real first. It's been decades since that was the case in a public works project in this country. It's all about the politics and who owns what supplier. Wanna bet somebody in the Dept. of Energy is gonna recommend that Seimons get the contract? Again, I looked all through the Department of Energy's pages on The Smart Grid and could not find any reference to HVDC power lines. Now I am not asserting that they are not going to look at this technology but...
...it's kind of worrying that they don't even mention it.
Last night I realized GE is pushing the smart grid...oooo, oooo, oooo...
while watching the commercials. They ran one on it.
GE is one of the worst MNCs to push offshore outsourcing, bad trade deals, global labor arbitrage and somehow I doubt they give a rats ass about alternative energies except to snag big fat government contracts....
So, because they have the labor arbitrage beast from hell, the first company to start screwing over it's employees as a method of boosting quarterly profits....
there assuredly had to be a host of conditions on that contract.
Any TAX increases must be approved by a 2/3's majority.

It has always been about class warfare.

Since every single illegal alien is guilty of fraud.

now about 78,000.

But all illegal immigrants are criminals, by definition.
the underlying grid is semi-naitional. Energy from Bonneville actually flows to the entire west coast.
not my comment and not my quotes. and insults do not fly here on EP. read the FAQ.

-- won't whatever "upgrades" happen be state-by-state or region-by-region?
and don't we need something truly national in terms of the lines and carrying capacity, etc, in order for alt energy to actually boom?
